We are Oklahomans

We are Oklahomans.

We are survivors.

Whether by man's hand or random disaster, we will not be defeated, we will thrive.

We hurt, we pray, we pull together and together we recover. 

We will not be taken down, put down, stay down or throw another down. 

We will get up, stand up, and pull each other up until we're all back up. 

The pioneer spirit which founded our great state is alive and well.

Today we've been called on once again to rise up and join arms with our brothers and sisters and get to work making life better again for our hurting and displaced family members.

We will recover. We will rebuild. We will see another bright day for us all.

We are Oklahomans.

Another Oklahoma Winter

We are on the brink of another winter season. The weather in this last year has been the oddest I've ever seen. Blizzard, flood, heatwave, earthquakes, mammoth hail, tornadoes...Welcome to Oklahoma!

I will say there are a few things that you can't survive winter without. Or at least I can't, so here's my list.

1. Ice scraper. Unless you park in a garage, you will have to have one. Trust me.
2. Humidifier. Unless you like bloody noses and talking like a frog.
3. Faucet covers. For your outside faucets. You don't want to skip this one.
4. Gloves. It might not be cold enough to freeze you, but with the wind, your hands will not survive.
5. Ear covering. See #4, it goes for ears, too.
6. Blankets. Because when the weather does what it does, you will most likely lose power. You'll want to cover up.
7. Food you don't have to cook. See #6. And don't wait until the weather starts to get it. Walmart will be out of everything. I don't know why.
8. Water. Walmart won't have any of that either. Frozen pipes don't give you water.
9. Boots. Because at some point you will be outside and you want to keep your toes.
10. Candles and hot chocolate. Cause when you locked in, they make you feel warm and cozy.

Final Ballot

So the nominations are in and believe it or not, I'm on the ballot! I'm actually really excited about this. My blog has been a place of pouring out my heart, my thoughts, my weirdness, etc. I never really thought other people would be that interested (or entertained, hmmm) anyway, I hope that my words have somehow blessed you.

My thought for today is this - Life is the art of drawing without an eraser. As I have blogged for all these years, I sometimes look back and see how life has progressed. Although the picture may not always turn out the way I want it to, overall the artwork that is my life is pretty dang beautiful. I'm glad that for the most part, God holds the brush. He's got a good eye for beauty.
