Thinking on Love

We are one in the Spirit,
We are one in the Lord,
We are one in the Spirit
We are one in the Lord,
And we pray that all unity
may one day be restored:

And they'll know we are Christians
By our love, by our love,
Yes, they'll know we are Christians
By our love.

Can you hear it? I remember singing this is my youth group in the '70s. I've been thinking a great deal about love lately. I want my response to be love. I want to sit with the woman at the well and love her. I want to eat with the tax collector and love him. I want to talk to the church people and love them. I want to touch the homeless and sick and love them.

I want them to know we are Christians by our love.

31When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. 33Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, 'Where I am going you cannot come.' 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."  John 13:31-35

peace.

Thanks for the reminder - both to love, and for the "way back" on the song. :)

I love that song. We sang it at our Catholic church long before it was cool and right as the "Jesus Movement" was beginning in the late 60's. thanks for the sweet reminder of my "roots", not to mention how true the sentiment of the lyrics really is..."They'll know we are Christians by our LOVE."

love you, sister.
